We leave no stone unturned as we look for ways to support our families and advance the field of child neurology. That’s why we’re always keeping an eye on the future of our field to push towards a better tomorrow.
For medical students who are passionate about child neurology, we are currently offering two scholarships: the Dr. Kenneth F. Swaiman Medical Student Scholarship (new this year!) and the Child Neurology Foundation Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (NDD) Summer Research Scholarship.
These opportunities are for students who are looking to build their future career while also making a lasting impact on the field of child neurology through clinical research opportunities.
See below for information on each opportunity. For questions or application assistance for either scholarship, contact Allyson Eyermann, CNF Operations Manager at [email protected]. Applications are now closed.
2022 Dr. Kenneth F. Swaiman Medical Student Scholarship
The $5,000 summer research scholarship will be given to three (3) U.S. or Canadian medical students who have an interest in exploring a career in child neurology. Travel expenses up to $1,000 will be provided to attend the annual Child Neurology Society meeting. The award will be open to second- or third-year medical students for a basic or clinical research project in child neurology conducted under the direction of a child neurologist.
This scholarship, in its inaugural year, has been established by the Child Neurology Foundation’s Board of Directors to honor the legacy of Dr. Kenneth F. Swaiman and his significant contributions to the field. As the founder of the Child Neurology Foundation, he always had an eye on the future of the field, and we are grateful to his wife and pediatric neurologist Dr. Phyllis Sher for establishing this scholarship as a way to help us honor his legacy.

The funds will be in support of clinical research conducted under the direction of a child neurology/NDD subspecialist during the 2022 summer break.
