Mia is one of the children who received a $1,000 Rise Family Grant from CNF. Here is a message from her family.

“When I signed up for this grant, I basically did it for fun, thinking to myself, ‘What are the chances we will actually be chosen?” When we got the email that we were chosen, I was shocked and so happy! We can’t thank CNF enough.

Mia is 3 years old and has a rare form of epilepsy, SCN8A, that causes developmental delays and other problems as well. She says few words and is learning to “talk” with an AAC device. She was supposed to start ESE Pre K this year in hopes of getting her extra help on top of her physical and speech therapies, but due to Covid, we made the tough decision to hold off for a little longer. I have had to cut back on my work hours in order to keep her and her older brother home from school. Thanks to the grant, we were able to buy her some extra toys and things to keep her entertained and learning, as well as pay a few bills. We really are so thankful!” – Madison
